Join us at Studio 105 inside (de)growth, Kaitlin Pomerantz's solo exhibition and immersive installation. Pomerantz will share about her creative process, the origins of the work and ideas behind it: money as a designed object, ecological and economic repair, and systems of value.
(de)growth turns the gallery into a densely layered environment of overgrowth and repair. Pomerantz reimagines the visual language of American currency through collage, ceramics, handmade paper, etched coin works, and living plants. Timed to the 250th anniversary of the country's founding in Philadelphia, the show treats the dollar not as a financial instrument but as a designed object, loaded with ideology, mythology, and shifting ideas of worth.
A reading room developed with Ulises runs alongside it, gathering texts on economic repair, ecology, land stewardship, and decolonial futures.
The gallery talk begins promptly at 4pm.

About the Artist: Kaitlin Pomerantz
Kaitlin Pomerantz is an artist and educator based in Philadelphia who works across forms with purposeful materials to explore social and ecological possibilities under and beyond extractive systems. She is the founder of MATTERS, an education initiative connecting materials, labor, and land. Pomerantz teaches in the MFA program at the School of Visual Arts and in Fine Arts and Visual Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her work has received support from Monument Lab, Philadelphia Mural Arts, Sachs Arts and Innovation, and the Leeway Foundation. She also curates, writes, and tends to plants and oysters.
