Emerging from the concrete sprawl and cold winters of Canberra, Degenerate crash-landed onto the Aussie alternative punk scene in late 2022 with a sound as raw as it is magnetic. Born in a tin shed tucked behind a member's horse, the band carved their identity in the static between rebellion and vulnerability - equal parts chaos and catharsis. With punchy riffs, gritty lyrics, and filthy Aussie authenticity, Degenerate blends 90's punk aggression with alt-rock sensitivity. Think Blink 182 meets Dune Rats, with flashes of Foo Fighters and Sum 41. The four-piece - fronted by every member with a rowdy athemic presence - built their reputation in the Capital's underground scene, known for sweat-drenched shows in backdoor venues.
Tunes like “False Comfort” & “All My Friends” showcase an unapologetic burst of emotion and silly laughter, tackling themes of burnout, surveillance, identity, and the commodification of piss-take and friendship.

Introducing their own brand of poppy skate-punk on their first two EPs ‘…needs therapy’ and ‘Make your Mark’, their upcoming debut album ‘Make Punk Great Again’ cements their unique fusion of grit and grace to form songs that balance anger and empathy.
First three singles ‘Nobody likes Milhouse’, ‘Euro’ and ‘Fight’ explore the simple and complicated both musically and lyrically; themes of mental health, lost love, and dissatisfaction with political leaders are showcased against fast palm-muted guitars, intricate bass lines that demand your attention, and barraging drums that hint at heavier influences.
