Description of presentation: An overview of the Motor City Match program and opportunities to become a Technical Assistance Provider through our live RFQ’s.

Description of presentation:

In our presentation, we'll delve into the Motor City Match program—an initiative designed to foster economic development in Detroit, Michigan, by bolstering the small business community and rejuvenating local neighborhoods. Launched in 2015, this program offers financial support, valuable resources, and technical guidance to entrepreneurs and small business proprietors. Additionally, we'll provide comprehensive details regarding our Request for Qualifications (RFQ) opportunities, catering to both small and large businesses alike.

Motor City Match Program Overview:

  • Matching Grants: Motor City Match offers matching grants to small businesses and entrepreneurs to help them start or grow their ventures. These grants can be used for various purposes, including building renovations, equipment purchases, and operating expenses.
  • Business Support Services: The program connects participants with a range of business support services, including technical assistance, business planning, and mentorship. This support helps entrepreneurs navigate the complexities of starting and running a business successfully.
  • Neighborhood Revitalization: Motor City Match focuses on promoting economic development and revitalization in Detroit's neighborhoods. By supporting local businesses, the program aims to create jobs, attract investment, and improve the quality of life in underserved communities.
  • Quarterly Competitions: Motor City Match operates on a quarterly basis, holding competitions where entrepreneurs can apply for funding and support. Winners are selected based on various criteria, including the viability of their business plans and their potential impact on the community.
  • Partnerships: The program is a collaborative effort involving various partners, including the City of Detroit, philanthropic organizations, local businesses, and community stakeholders. These partnerships help leverage resources and expertise to maximize the program's impact.

During our discussion, we'll explore the chance to qualify for participation in an RFQ, which remains valid until June 30, 2025. This RFQ is aimed at pre-qualified technical assistance service providers, referred to as "TA Providers," who express interest in collaborating with business owners engaged in the Program administered by the EDC and facilitated by the Small Business Services department of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation ("DEGC").
