DEFENSIVE PISTOL FUNDAMENTALS

Defensive Pistol Fundamentals is the next step for students who already understand basic handgun safety and concealed carry fundamentals and are ready for more practical defensive application. This course is designed to move beyond basic gun handling and begin developing the skills needed to solve simple defensive handgun problems with more awareness, more efficiency, and more control.
Students will revisit core fundamentals such as drawstroke, presentation, first-shot accountability, reloads, and malfunction clearing. The difference is that this class places those skills into a more active defensive context and begins pushing students to apply them with greater purpose and accountability.

Getting Off The X
Simple Lateral Movement
Movement To Cover
Cover Vs. Concealment
Verbal Commands
Target Acquisition
Target Discrimination
OODA Loop Application
Timed Draw To First Shot
Timed Emergency Reloads
Students will work on applying these concepts in a structured and manageable way so they can build stronger defensive habits without jumping too far ahead into advanced training. This is not a beginner pistol class, and it is not an advanced Combat Pistol course. It is the bridge in between for shooters who want to become more capable, more disciplined, and more effective under pressure.
Prerequisite: Concealed Carry Fundamentals, NYS Amred guard or equivalent experience is strongly recommended.
