About this Event
The programme curated by Miclen LaiPang, Co-Director of the Festival of International Artists, with fellow Co-Director and Hughes Hall Director of Music, Nigel Yandell, is an intimate journey through the music that has deeply shaped his life. Their seamless collaboration infuses each piece with warmth and depth, beginning with Borowski’s Adoration, Heifetz’s Deep River, and White’s Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen—repertoire drawn from Miclen’s childhood in the USA, playing alongside his mother.
The journey continues with Kreisler’s nostalgic Liebesleid and the heartfelt beauty of Amy Beach’s Romance, leading into Tchaikovsky’s emotive Lensky’s Aria, reflecting Miclen’s love for expressive, heartfelt music. Schumann’s Widmung evokes devotion tied to his time in Germany, while Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier waltzes offer memories of Austrian grandeur. With Miclen now living in France, Ravel’s Violin Sonata in G Major bridges his European and American experiences, blending classical elegance with jazz-inspired vibrancy.
