6:15–7:15 PM – C uban Salsa (aka Casino & Timba)
Experience the vibrant social dance traditions of C uba through Casino, what some refer to as the C uban style of salsa, and the dynamic rhythms of Timba music. This class explores the foundational steps, partnerwork, musicality, body movement, and cultural roots that make C uban salsa unique. Students will develop timing, coordination, connection, and improvisational skills while learning how movement responds to the rich rhythms and energy of contemporary C uban music. Whether you're new to salsa or looking to deepen your understanding of C uban dance styles, this class offers a fun and engaging way to build confidence on the dance floor while connecting to C uba’s living dance traditions.
7:15–8:15 PM – C uban Movement & Styling
Explore the rhythm, flow, and flavor of C uban dance. This class develops body movement, musicality, footwork, coordination, and styling inspired by Casino (C uban salsa), Rumba, Afro C uban dance, and contemporary C uban social dance traditions. Students learn techniques to move with greater confidence, expression, and connection to the music while gaining insight into the cultural roots of C uban movement.
8:15–9:15 PM – C uban Rumba
Experience the energy, rhythm, and expressive power of C uban Rumba, one of the island’s most influential and beloved dance traditions. Rooted in Afro C uban culture, Rumba combines dynamic movement, complex rhythms, improvisation, and playful interaction between dancers and drummers.
This class introduces the foundational movements, musicality, and cultural context of Rumba styles such as Guaguancó, Yambú, and Columbia. Students develop coordination, body movement, rhythm, and improvisational skills while exploring the rich traditions that continue to shape C uban music and dance today. Accompanied by live percussion when available.
