Declan Welsh & The Decadent West on Glasgowst pärit bänd, mis keskendub intelligentsetele, publiku jaoks kergelt suhestuvatele laulusõnadele ja elektrilisele etteastetele. Declan Welsh on andekas laulukirjutaja ja luuletaja. Welsh ja tema bänd (Duncan McBride, kitarr; Ben Corlett, bass ja Murray Noble, trummid) on välja andnud juba 4 kriitikute heakskiidu pälvinud EP-d ja 1 albumi.
Declan Welsh & The Decadent Westi debüütalbum “Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold”, mis pälvis Šoti aasta albumi nominatsiooni, avaldati aastal 2019 ning väljendab hästi nende olemust ja seisukohti. Neljaosaline album põhineb räigel poliitilisel raevul, jõustades ideed, et tänapäeva keskkonnas ei saa me ignoreerida julmusi, mis tekitavad meis eksistentsiaalset hirmu. Bändi uus album “2” ilmub 2023. aasta septembris ning esimene singel sellelt “King of my head” avalikustati veebruaris. “King of My Head” katsetab uue albumi esteetikat ning on julge muutus tempos ja tämbris nende debüütplaadi märatsevama heliloominguga võrreldes. Welsh selgitab: "Need on parimad sõnad, mis ma kunagi kirjutanud olen, ja sellised lood nagu "King Of My Head", "First To Know" ja "Come Outside (Compromise)" on kõige haavatavamad ja introspektiivsemad, mida ma oma elus ja kunstis kunagi olnud olen”.

Declan Welsh & The Decadent West are a band from Glasgow with a focus on intelligent, relatable lyrics, catchy hooks and an electric live show. Declan Welsh, a talented songwriter and poet from Glasgow, is known for his unapologetic approach to creating music that carries a message of humanity. Welsh and his band (Duncan McBride, guitar; Ben Corlett, bass and Murray Noble, drums) have already released 4 EPs and 1 Album to critical acclaim, receiving a Scottish Album of The Year Award nomination for their debut “Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold”.
Declan Welsh & the Decadent West released their debut album "Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold" in 2019, which aptly expresses their essence and viewpoints. This four-part album is built upon fierce political rage, enforcing the ideas that in today's environment, we cannot ignore the cruelties that instill existential fear within us. The debut album's title track “Absurd” alone has been streamed over 3 million times across streaming platforms.
The band's new album "2" will be released in September 2023, and the first single from it, "King of my Head," was unveiled in February. "King of My Head" explores the aesthetics of the upcoming album and represents a bold departure in tempo and tone compared to their debut record's more tumultuous soundscapes. Welsh explains: “It’s the best lyrics I’ve ever written, and songs like ‘King Of My Head’, ‘First To Know’ and ‘Come Outside (Compromise)’ are the most vulnerable and introspective I’ve ever been in my art”.
