December Fundraiser Event

Join us as we continue our fundraising efforts for the Heron’s Nest with a scavenger hunt! All proceeds will go towards the Heron’s Nest’s land acquisition, stewardship, shared resources, community facilities and educational programming efforts. Your participation will enter you into a drawing for prizes from the Duwamish Longhouse Store.

There are three ways to participate in the fundraiser. Please select the ticket option that reflects how you'd like to participate, and note the start time listed on your ticket if you are joining us in-person.

Option 1 - Duwamish River Outing:

Join us on December 5th for a birding and scavenger hunt outing along the Duwamish River at (formerly Terminal 107 Park). If the parking lot is full, there's additional parking at , an adjacent park just north of həʔapus Village Park. FBC organizers will be available at both locations to hand out and collect scavenger hunt lists. Since parking is very limited at both locations, we are splitting the outing into two time slots:

Group 1: 10am - 11:30am

Group 2: 12:00pm - 1:30pm

While you are in the area, we encourage you to drive up to to check out the site.

Option 2 - Remote Scavenger Hunt:

We will email you a scavenger hunt list on Sunday, November 28th. The list will be geared toward the Puget Sound area, but feel free to try it from anywhere! You are welcome to participate in a group. Email us back your checklist by 5pm on December 5th to be entered into the drawing.

Option 3 - Donation Only:

Not a fan of scavenger hunts but still want to participate? Choose the "Donation Only" ticket option to contribute to our fundraiser.

How does the scavenger hunt work?

A scavenger hunt is a game where you’re given a list of things to do, find, or learn about, and you try to complete as many of the items as you can. Our scavenger hunt will be birdy and also invite you to observe and learn about other parts of your surroundings! When you sign up for the scavenger hunt, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a prize from the Duwamish Longhouse Store. Submit your scavenger hunt results to be included in a second drawing. Scavenger hunt cards with at least half the items found will be entered into a third drawing.

Please note that this event is a donation-based fundraiser, and there are no refunds. Thanks for your contribution! In the event of extreme weather, we will reschedule the in-person portion of this event for early 2022.

*As we begin to host bird outings again, we want to make sure that we continue to take care of one another. We are asking everyone to wear a mask and give one another space, regardless of vaccination status. We also require that all participants follow our .
