About this Event
Deco in the Details: An Introduction to 1920s and 30s Nottingham
Join Lucy Brouwer, creator of Watson Fothergill Walk, for an architecture tour especially for Blue Stocking Network.
Starting at 3 pm, meeting outside Victoria Centre Clock Tower (by McDonalds), we will take a walk with Lucy looking for Art Deco details in Nottingham's architecture of the 1920s and 1930s, taking in T. Cecil Howitt's YMCA, the recently listed Notts Fire and Rescue HQ, Egyptian and American influences on commercial buildings, a former Montague Burton store, the fabulous Palais dancehall and one of many pubs by architects WB Starr and Hall.
The walk will be approximately 1km/ 1 hour with stops and then we will head to the Angel Micro Brewery for networking at 4pm.
Please come prepared for whatever the weather (wrap up warm!) with footwear suitable for city walking.
This is our last network for 2024 and following the tour, we will go into The Angel for networking and socialising with blue stockings members (they will reserve space for us). This is a short distance from the end of the route.
In this second half, we will have open networking to meet new women in business or catch up with familiar faces. There will also be a chance to share your news, offers or event notices with everybody.
We are not including refreshments in the meeting charges so please do buy a drink from the pub to help support them.
Booking is essential. There will be a maximum of 20 on the walk and we also need to let the pub know the numbers.
Finish 5 pm.
