About this Event
Scotland’s journey to Net Zero requires a rapid acceleration in building retrofit, low-carbon heat, and smart energy systems. This workshop brings together industry stakeholders, researchers, and policy representatives to explore how neighbourhood-scale retrofitting can meaningfully reduce energy demand, support grid resilience, and contribute to the development of Positive Energy Districts.
The workshop is part of an ongoing collaborative project
between Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh, which aims to
develop a holistic, integrated modelling framework combining:
- Building stock energy modelling
- Embodied and operational carbon assessment of retrofit measures
- Smart grid flexibility and EV charging scenarios
- Neighbourhood-scale energy and carbon trade-off analysis
Our goal for this workshop is to co-design assumptions, refine realistic
retrofit scenarios, and identify opportunities for future partnership and
funding.
Participants will contribute directly to shaping research priorities and practical next steps for decarbonising Scotland’s existing building stock.
