'DECADE' Documentary Film Screening: A World Down Syndrome Day Celebration!

Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day with a special screening of DECADE, a poignant documentary. This compelling film shares the journeys of three families across three generations while spotlighting the inspiring 10-year collaboration between photographer Hilary Gauld and the Waterloo Wellington Down Syndrome Society. Over the past decade, their work has challenged stereotypes and fostered advocacy that has captured global attention.

Explore how mainstream media representation has evolved and join us in celebrating the growing visibility of individuals with Down syndrome.  A fireside discussion will follow the screening.

The event will take place on Sat Mar 22 2025 at 14:00 at the Idea Exchange | Old Post Office.

The Waterloo Wellington Down Syndrome Society (formerly the Waterloo Regional Down Syndrome Society) is a charitable, non-profit organization created in 1988 by parents of children with Down syndrome. Entirely run by volunteers, every dollar raised goes towards helping fund the various programs and services provided to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The Waterloo Wellington Down Syndrome Society supports and informs individuals, families, and the community on issues related to Down syndrome. They advocate for persons with Down syndrome to lead healthy and active lives, enabling them to contribute their unique gifts to our community.
