"Super endearing and full of light" - Dave Ruby Howe, triple j UnearthedMAGNETS is the sparkling indie-pop project of multidisciplinary artist and disability advocate, Siobhan McGinnity. In 2023, she made a powerful return with her pop-rock anthem "Down,” appearing on "Best Of" lists from Rolling Stone to rage ABC. Shimmering singles "Speak" and "All About You" followed, earning praise from triple j unearthed, ABC breakfast, and a shortlist at the Berlin Music Video Awards.
MAGNETS' debut album, DIPLACUSIS, premieres November 1, 2024. Produced by ARIA-nominee Terry Mann and funded by Creative Victoria, the indie-pop LP delves into themes of disability and self-acceptance. Drawing equally from her classical training as her love of pop, MAGNETS has crafted a sound uniquely her own—layered in harmonies, addictive melodies, and the occasional burst of classical piano in 15/4 time.
This show is proudly sponsored by Creative Victoria in celebration of International Day of Persons with Disability and MAGNETS debut album. Featuring an incredible all disabled line-up, including Women in Music Emerging Artist finalist, Mathilde Anne, autistic poet and writer, Alex Creece, and Music Victoria Amplify nominee, Naavikaran (DJ).
Accessibility: Auslan interpreted, relaxed lighting performance. Earplugs are encouraged for occasional high sound levels. Set-times will be provided one-week prior to the show.
This show takes place on stolen land. We honour and pay respects to the Traditional Owners of the country, the Wurundjeri people, on which we perform.
