Debbie Rider & The Ron Teixeira Trio

Debra Hammons Bailey Rider was born in St. Augustine, FL. She started singing in

church and at Fletcher High School, Neptune Beach, FL. From 1988 through the end of

1992, Debra sang backing vocals for the hall of fame southern rock band, Lynyrd

Skynyrd. Her voice has been featured from award winning jingles to robotics

characters for Sally Industries. Debra also sang Janis Joplin’s tunes for Sam Andrew

of Big Brother and the Holding Company, opened for Boots Randolph, Marcia Ball, and

sang with University of North Florida’s Jazz Ensembles where she graduated with a

Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies in 2010. Debra was honored to be part of the

Jacksonville Symphony sponsored non-profit, “Body & Soul, The Art of Healing” and

now continues to perform for Mayo Hospital programs in Jacksonville, Florida with her

band “Eventide”. A prolific writer and composer, Debra continues to write and record

her own songs. Her most frequent compilation of 18 originals is “Soul Food for

Delandapalooza, which is available at her website debrarider.com. A frequent

performer at Alhambra Theatre & Dining, Jacksonville Florida, she sings backing and

duet vocals for internationally acclaimed tribute artists from Elvis, Reba!, and Donna

Summer, to name a few. She is now performing her own tribute, Get Closer! A Tribute

to Linda Ronstadt, selling out venues in Fernandina Beach, Florida (Story & Song

Center for the Arts) and Weirsdale, Florida, (Orange Blossom Opry), as well as

Alhambra. Since 1996, Debra has been discovering, learning and singing songs from

“The Great American Songbook” and frequently performs them as Debra Rider Jazzy

Blues. “Debra Rider! She's a cross between Billie Holiday, Blossom Dearie, and Dinah

Washington. Her voice is like Dolly Parton with Soul”.
