An opportunity for teens to learn about and debate the topics relevant and critical to the City of Issaquah!About this Event
Join us for Debate on Issaquah, an opportunity to learn about and debate real-world and city-relevant topics! This is an opportunity to:
1) Hear from city leaders on the topics of economic growth and vitality, mental health and homelessness, and enviornmental sustainability.
2) Be introduced to relevant, two-sided debates within the above topics, assigned a position, and then engage in a series of brief, structured debates.
3) Build knowledge and public speaking skills in a low-pressure environment!
Additional Details:
- Open to all 7th - 10th graders within the Issaquah School District
- No experience necessary
- Can sign-up for debates as an individual or in teams of two
- Debates will be scored on an established rubric and follow an established structure, with scores averaged from all debates to award a champion!
- Light refershments will be provided
