On Monday, November 8th, DEATH TO THE SUN presents a night of ethereal sound experimentation at Miami's intimate, luscious garden venue Center for Subtropical Affairs.
Harpist Marilu Donovan and violinist/vocalist Adam Markiewicz are critically acclaimed NY-based duo LEYA. Their music gently crosses the boundaries of performance, emotion, and genre, creating a sonically unique and mesmerizing live experience. Transcending barriers, LEYA invoke a sense of foreboding, slowly guiding you along a path of brooding dissonant melodies, interjected by moments of fragile beauty and harmony. Time stands still during their performances, as their baroque and classically inspired preternatural arrangements entrance audiences, leading to a final moment of euphoric release. This will be LEYA's third Miami performance, and also Adam's birthday! What better way to celebrate!
Sound artist Night Foundation, otherwise known as Richard Vergez, has been at the crest of south Florida's experimental music scene for over a decade. Founding Noir Age in 2017 as a vehicle for his own compositions and collaborations, the label has expanded to reach and feature artists from all around the experimental music world, spanning a prolific catalog of soundscapes, ambient pieces, and tape-based experimentations. His captivating compositions slowly build barren landscapes of sound, using analog synthesizers, tape machines, loops, and unconventional home-made instruments. This will be his first performance since 2020, and his birthday as well! Please come and celebrate this south Florida legend! (Scorpios rolling DEEP)
In their few years as a band, Ghostflower's live performances have evolved into jogs through volatile avant-pop terrains, the landscape changing around you at every moment. Steering between icy electronic rhythms, angular guitars, and atmospheric yet sometimes rigid and powerful vocals, they blend seamlessly from song to song, creating post punk paced build ups with sudden, slow dives into synthetic melody breaks, contracting and expanding like breathing musical waves.
Kicking off the night will be a debut performance by Circle of Sixths, better known as Andrew McLees, leader of high octane noise rock outfit Other Body and founder of experimental music festival Look Alive Fest. Andrew has the Midas touch, as this new project will take us through his next phase of vision. We look forward to this musical premier!
All this takes place at the beautiful Center for Subtropical Affairs located at 7145 NW 1st Court in Miami, Florida. Admission is $10, doors open at 8:00 P.M.
