Why do some people lose their lives in America’s national parks? Randi Minetor, author of eight books in the non-fiction "Death in the National Parks" series, explores the fatal mistakes people make when they venture into unfamiliar wilderness. Some forget critical steps in their preparation, forging off into wild lands far too challenging for their level of experience. Some refuse advice, ignoring warnings from more seasoned adventurers. Others are simply in the wrong place at the right time, falling prey to a lightning strike, a falling rock, or ravenous grizzly bears. And a few become victims of murder. As heard on the "Dark Outdoors" and "National Park After Dark" podcasts, Randi shares what her research reveals about the people who perish in the parks. Most important, she provides helpful tips on how to avoid your own disaster in a national park. This presentation will be at 7pm in the All Seasons Chapel in White Haven Memorial Park. Doors open at 6:30pm.
White Haven Park is located at 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534. Meet at the All Seasons Chapel in the back of the park.
