Death Café is a global movement offering space for sharing and hearing thoughts, feelings, questions and experiences around death, dying, grief and inevitability around our mortality. There is no agenda or set topics and the conversation flows from what people bring to the discussion. It offers the opportunity to talk about matters on our mind that we may not feel comfortable saying elsewhere.
Death Café isn’t a grief support group, though of course people are willing to share their experiences if they would like. Death Café is here for conversation, curiosity and respectful listening. You may have no close experience of death, but being mortal is something we all experience, and Death Café is open to anyone over 18.
At Shirehampton Death Café, doors close 15 minutes after the start time to create an uninterrupted, confidential space for conversation, though of course you are free to leave at any time if that feels right for you! There is no need to book and free tea, coffee and cake are a great reminder of the sweetness of life.
(The JTE Hub at the Methodist Church kindly host Death Cafe, but it is not a religious event. All worldviews are welcome)
