About this Event
Welcome to Death Cafe Antwerp!
Join us for an open & honest group-directed conversation about death, dying, and life at Viggo's. This is a safe space where you can share your thoughts, fears, and questions about mortality. Everyone is welcome. This event will be in English.
At this Death Cafe, there are no set agendas or objectives – just a group of people coming together to discuss a topic that is often taboo. This is not a grief & bereavement support group, but instead it is a chance to explore our thoughts on mortality in a relaxed and respectful environment. There is no particular structure or theme to discussions; it’s an opportunity to listen to others and talk openly, honestly and confidentially, without judgement. Since conversation topics are initiated by the audience, discussions can flow through anything from logistics and services, to the dying process, fear of death, near death experiences, spirituality, considerations for an afterlife, medical assistance in dying, suicide, grief and loss, supporting someone and end-of-life, how to talk to someone who is dying, and so much more. People may come with curiosity and a little trepidation but often leave feeling uplifted with a sense of joy. A Death Café is surprisingly not morbid or depressing, but life-affirming, supportive and reassuring.
