As Prairie View A&M University celebrates 150 years of excellence, its extraordinary story takes center stage like never before.
Dear Prairie View is a world premiere multidisciplinary performance commissioned by Performing Arts Houston and created by acclaimed Houston artist and former Prairie View student Harrison Guy. Presented September 4–5, 2026, at the Cullen Theater in Houston's Wortham Theater Center, this epic production blends music, dance, spoken word, and stunning visual storytelling into a powerful celebration of one of America's most influential HBCUs.
From the aftermath of emancipation and the University's founding in 1876, to student activism, Homecoming, love, tradition, and generations of Black excellence, Dear Prairie View is a Texas sized story of resilience, pride, and possibility.
Featuring an original score by Dr. John Cornelius II and Brandon "The Biggest Brandon" Willis, the production also features acclaimed poets Outspoken Bean, Se7en the Poet, and Bar None, along with the legendary Prairie View A&M University Classic Dance Ensemble, professional artists from across Houston, and special appearances by Prairie View students and alumni.
