Dear Ferocious Dreamer: A Festival Finale in Verse

“Dear ferocious dreamer. Dear maven of song and surveyor of every flung star. Dear meandering romantic, audacious witness, dear listener with the whole of your covetous heart.” So begins Patricia Smith’s invocation poem that will ground us in the here-and-now on the penultimate night of Litquake 2025. Litquake invites you in alongside poets Mia Ayumi Malhotra, Achy Obejas, Matthew Zapruder, and Gabriel Cortez to bear witness to the beauty and resiliency of our words and community at the Mission’s historic Victoria Theater. Poets, writers, and creatives come early and stay late to get a free creative headshot taken by pro photographer Michelle Castillo at the Decentered Arts photobooth. Poets will have the opportunity to participate in the Pulse of Poetry in the Bay Area coffee table book—a unique publication opportunity, archiving our community.
