Discover the Ingredients to Make a Lasting Impact
Event Description:
Are you a small or medium-sized business looking to hire more inclusively but unsure where to begin? Join us this Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) for a transformative speaker series featuring three remarkable individuals living with disabilities.
Our speakers will share their personal journeys, challenge common misconceptions, and offer practical, actionable advice on how to create a workplace that welcomes and supports people of all abilities.
This event is designed to help employers move past fear and uncertainty, and toward meaningful inclusion. Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your inclusive hiring practices, this session will leave you informed, inspired, and ready to take the next step.
Our event features three remarkable speakers, each bringing unique perspectives shaped by their lived experiences with disabilities:
• Ryan Straschnitzki: A former Humboldt Broncos player and resilience advocate whose story has inspired audiences across Canada. Ryan will share his journey of overcoming adversity and highlight the power of perseverance, inclusion, and creating opportunities for people of all abilities in the workplace.
• Shelley Shelke: A Goodwill team member and advocate for individuals who are visually impaired. Shelley will offer a personal perspective on navigating barriers, the importance of workplace accessibility, and how employers can create environments where everyone can succeed.
• Leonka Kaluha: A Special Olympian and Athlete of the Year who embodies determination, leadership, and inclusion. Leonka will share her experiences as an athlete and advocate, demonstrating the value and potential of individuals with disabilities when given the opportunity to thrive.
