49 Writers is spooked, chilled, and thoroughly terrified to present Dead Writers, a community Halloween celebration! This event, which was pioneered by the University of Alaska Fairbanks MFA program, is all about celebrating our deceased literary heroes (and anti-heroes). Part open mic performance, part costume competition, the rules are simple: choose your favorite dead writer, dress up, and perform something that they wrote (or conceivably could have written). Prizes will be awarded for the best performance and the best costume. Come for the ghosts of authors past, and stay for the prizes, beverages, and good company!Registration required; tickets available on a sliding scale of $15-25.
