Dead Set On The Bay: Island Edition will be a day-long celebration of the music of the Grateful Dead on the Mare Island Waterfront culminating in two sets of Stu Allen & Mars Hotel with performances by Lovin’ Dead, Aardvark, and Scott Guberman & Friends. The gates open at 1 pm and there will be live music from 1:30 until 10 pm, with food trucks, Shakedown, bar, soft drinks and an interactive Burning Man Art Exhibit outdoors on a spacious waterfront promenade. Bring your beach chairs and dancing shoes and the whole family; this is an all-ages event. We won't be on the boat this year, but we will be able to enjoy waterfront views and a full day of Grateful tunes!At the Mare Island Coal Sheds- 860 Nimitz Ave, Vallejo- park in one of the three free lots and walk in the Coal Shed Gate to the waterfront promenade. Or take Lyft/Uber- sorry there is no boat dock.

COVID SAFETY: According to Dr. Fauci, the best way musicians can protect their fans is to play OUTDOOR concerts. That is why Mr. Hat is presenting outdoor concerts at this time, with 50% reduced capacity in order to allow everyone to socially distance. Mr. Hat asks that all attendees please get vaccinated if possible, and if not, please make sure you test negative for COVID within 72 hours of the event, for the safety of your fellow Deadheads. Please give others not in your group their space and ask before you hug/ touch. If you find yourself in a crowd, we recommend wearing a mask. However, we will not ask for your papers at the gate and masking is optional when outdoors, unless CDC or local guidelines change.
STU ALLEN & MARS HOTEL: Led by acclaimed guitarist-singer Allen (of Phil Lesh & Friends, Melvin Seals & JGB, Darkstar Orchestra), a revolving cast of incredibly talented musicians inhabits Mars Hotel, drawing from the Grateful Dead’s vast catalog to delight Deadheads and dancers of all generations. A Mars Hotel show is always an energetic evening of good vibes, good music, and good community.
Dead Set On The Bay was born in 2019 when Bay Area independent music promoter Mr. Hat Presents envisioned a sunset concert cruise celebrating the Bay Area’s love affair with the music of the Grateful Dead featuring Stu Allen and an all-star cast of local heroes. The first sailing sold out in one day, leading to two more sold out Grateful “Stu Cruises” as well as a Led Zeppelin and Phish tribute cruise on the Bay. Dead Set On The Bay 4 is scheduled to set sail on July 9th, 2022 with Stu Allen & The Dead Set On The Bay Allstars (All Good Things in All Good Time).
LOVIN' DEAD is a fantastic super kind Grateful Dead tribute from Sonoma County with over 25 years of performing together.
AARDVARK is a Santa Cruz jam band that has been channeling the spirit of the Grateful Dead and like-minded music with choice songs, sweet vocals and transcendent jams since 2011.
SCOTT GUBERMAN moved West and began playing with Phil Lesh and Friends in 2015, most notably during the re-creation shows that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead. He is organizing a special line-up to kick off the festivities featuring REED MATHIS, SEAN LEAHY, and BRADLEY LEACH.
Artist-At-Large SUNSHINE GARCIA BECKER (Furhtur, JGB) will be adding her powerhouse vocals and flute to the mix with Stu Allen and perhaps other acts.
CONCESSIONS: Chefwood707 Seafood/ Soulfood, Jennica's Kitchen Fillipino Foods, Wayne & Renee's Caramel Corn, local beers & wines from The Mare Island Brewing Company, soft drinks, snacks and cookies at the Merch table. There will be $1 bottled waters and a refill station where you can refill any empty bottle with free fresh water.
