dead prez is arguably the most socially conscious and prolific Hip Hop outfit ever. Emerging from a Black Empowerment perspective, dead prez has grown into a global voice for those who are ready to transform their reality. The duo consists of M1 and stic and was formed in 1996. dead prez transcribed their revolutionary but gangsta ethos they acquired on the streets into anthems for change. Brand Nubian’s Lord Jamar discovered them and helped them sign a deal with Loud Records. With hard-hitting beats, stellar lyricism and strong song concepts, dead prez earned respect around the world from their peers and beyond. The duo’s first two studio albums, Lets Get Free (2000) and RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta (2004), were accompanied by four acclaimed Turn Off The Radio mixtapes and solo albums, and in 2012 they released the Information Age. Khnum Ibomu, a.k.a. Stic –father, rapper, producer, author and certified long distance running coach started the brand and healthy lifestyle movement- RBG FIT CLUB and invented a new genre of music he coined “fit hop” with his groundbreaking albums The Workout (2011) and the highly anticipate Workout II (2020). Stic is also currently an Adjunct Professor at The Clive Davis Institute at NYU and is releasing a new book and audiobook The 5 Principles (Oct 2022 via Balance/Hachette) which chronicles his health and fitness journey and the 5 Key life lessons that sustain his healthy gangsta lifestyle. M1 a.k.a. Mutulu Olugbala is a global force connector and social impact catalyst. He is a writer, producer, entrepreneur, legal cannabis advocate, father and husband but more than anything he is a revolutionary. In an executive role, Mutulu continues to groom the cultural community to exercise its power toward freedom. He has coined the term “Artivism” and brings this perspective to dead prez and his highly influential peers. dead prez’s consistent artistry, and activism, has earned them legendary status, and they remain relevant and one of the driving forces in Hip-Hop today.
