Dead Poets Society (1989)- Cult Classics
About this Event
A screening of cosy autumnal classic 'Dead Poets Society' (1989), part of our 'Cult Classics' series at the Beecroft Cinema Club.
"Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary!"
Beecroft Cinema Club presents 'Cult Classics' series, screening the iconic films that fans are frenzied for on the last Thursday of each month on the big screen at the Beecroft Art Gallery.
In November, we're off to Welton Academy in autumnal Vermont for Oscar winning coming of age drama 'Dead Poets Society', directed by Peter Weir and starring the late Robin Williams.
Set in 1959, painfully shy Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke) has been sent to a prestigious New England boys' boarding school, where students have been trained for generations to lead lives of conformity and tradition. Anderson and his classmates soon meet charismatic new English professor John Keating (Robin Williams), who uses unorthodox methods to inspire his class. Through his infectious enthusiasm and unique approach to teaching, Keating awakens his students to poetry, passion, and the possibility of living lives that actually feel like their own. But at what cost?
Doors open and refreshments will be available from 6pm and the film will start promptly at 6:30pm (there are no adverts). There is no allocated seating.
The film's run time is 2hr 08 minutes.
The film is rated 'PG' and this event is 12+ only.
