A night of indie folk-rock, for fans of Angel Olsen, Pinegrove, and Big Thief
Dead Gowns is the moniker of singer-songwriter Geneviève Beaudoin. Together with her collaborator, Luke Kalloch, and a group of rotating Maine-based musicians, Dead Gowns makes raw, passionate folk-rock that calls to mind the music of Cat Power, PJ Harvey, and Big Thief. Dead Gowns' debut album, It's Summer, I Love You, and I’m Surrounded By Snow (Mtn. Laurel Recording Co.) was called “one of the year’s best artist introductions” by Paste Magazine, “immaculate” by KEXP, while No Expectations adds, “not since Angel Olsen’s 2014 Burn Your Fire No Witness has an indie rock voice floored me so palpably... There’s not a bad tune on here.”
TIberius was originally a solo outing for Rutland, VT-based songwriter Brendan Wright (they/them), with the project growing to a five-piece band upon Wright's relocation to Boston. This expanded lineup produces a catchy and cacophonous sound that blends Indie Punk, Alt Country and Psychedelia with confessional, conversational lyrics, which they describe as "Farm Emo." On November 14th, the band will release Troubadour, their debut album for Audio Antihero.
Bugcatcher is the slacker-rock project of Jake Denning and Ben Combs, joined live by John Carlo Pecheone, Alyssa Zaso and Duvante Cora. Formed on the shores of the Great Lake called Ontario, in the lands of Western New York, the group has spent their last two years in relative solitude, shaping and honing the songs that would become their upcoming album, Big Field. The impact of that solitude and stillness from their creative journey is reflected throughout the albums runtime, at times eliciting a vibrant carelessness, and at others, nostalgic despondency. And if nothing else, at the very least, the music is true and whole.
