Dead Good Stretford is a weekend-long festival, taking place here at Stretford Public Hall. The aim of the festival is to encourage people to think and talk about death, in an open and creative way.
We are busy finalising arrangements but a number of workshops and events are now confirmed and open for bookings:
Friday 10th May – free workshops taking place throughout the day:
* Somatic movement workshop on grief (10.00am – 11.30am)
* Elegy – a poetry workshop (1.00pm – 2.00pm)
* Grief & breathwork workshop (2.00pm – 3.00pm)
* Cinema screening: Dead Good documentary (2.00pm – 3.15pm)
* Shrine making for pregnancy & infant loss (3.00pm – 4.30pm)
Saturday 11th May – the Dead Good Fair, 12pm – 3.00pm
An afternoon of activities exploring how we think and talk about death. The fair will include:
* Project Grief – a photography exhibition which tells the stories of people finding comfort, distraction or hope in a creative pursuit after losing someone they love
* AIDS memorial quilt – a beautiful tribute to some of those who have lost their lives to AIDS
* Death cafe – join a death cafe and learn more about the death cafe movement
* Write your own eulogy – with Common Theatre
There will be information stalls and talks taking place all afternoon, on topics including: preparing for a funeral; writing a will; how to talk to children about death; and understanding the Power of Attorney and more.
Sunday 12th May – Cinema screening: Coco
A FREE family film screening of the animated adventure Coco, which follows young Miguel on an extraordinary journey to uncover the mysteries behind his ancestor’s stories and traditions.
