Filmmaker/artist/cartoonist John Michael McCarthy (JMM) has lived a fascinating life in the world of cult film. His 8mm masterpiece TEENAGE TUPELO (1995), co-produced by cult film legend DAVID F. FRIEDMAN (SHE FREAK, 2000 MANIACS) was the first new film ever released on Mike Vraney's SOMETHING WEIRD VIDEO. JMM--already an accomplished cartoonist published by FANTAGRAPHICS--also provided original artwork for other SOMETHING WEIRD trailer compilations.
Filmography: DAMSELVIS, DAUGHTER OF HELVIS (1994); TEENAGE TUPELO (1995); THE SORE LOSERS (1997); SUPERSTARLET A.D. (2000); DESTROY MEMPHIS (2016).
Under the pseudonym Dingo Jones, he starred in GOROTICA (1993); GORE WHORE (1994), two-thirds of the S.O.V. 'Gore Trilogy' of filmmaker Hugh Gallagher (also appearing at DF5).
DF5 will serve as the 30th Anniversary Bash for JMM's first film, DAMSELVIS, DAUGHTER OF HELVIS (1994); a shot-on-video rollick made in Memphis and recently released on Blu-ray by our sponsor, SATURN’S CORE (afterparty details below).

With 100+ acting credits, Erin Brown has been one of the largest stars in independent and outsider film for over two decades--having effectively held her audience captive in ways that no other actress of her generation can claim. DF is beyond proud to announce Erin Brown is making a rare Indianapolis appearance at DF5.
Previously billed as MISTY MUNDAE, Brown has proven herself a dynamic force in some of the most sought-after independent releases amongst tape collecting communities. As Mundae, Brown collaborated on DR. JACKYLL & MISTRESS HYDE (2003), LUST FOR DRACULA (2004), SINFUL (2006), and CHANTAL (2007)--several of which shot on 35MM by director Tony Marsiglia. Additional filmography includes SICK GIRL (2006), DEAD BY MIDNIGHT (2018), its 2022 sequel, IN THE WALL (2007), and THE LOST (2006).
In recent years, Brown collaborated with filmmaker Victor Bonacore under the mantle of their production company, TRANZIENT PICTURES, on the Dayton-made punk-wrestling-gross-out epic feature THRUST (2022). The film later received a special limited VHS release from LUNCHMEAT. Brown will have a very limited amount of copies available for purchase at DF5.

HUGH GALLAGHER - Special Guest Filmmaker/Publisher

The writer/director/producer behind the legendary GORE TRILOGY and DRACULINA PUBLISHING will be appearing at DF5. Gallagher also helmed the publication of Scream Queens Illustrated for a period; and self-published innumerable titles of his own, including Draculina Magazine, Pinups, Sirens of Cinema, Mean (a MAD-alternative), Oriental Cinema, She, Skin (w/ Linnea Quigley), and more.
Gallagher parlayed his publication biz into a film career, directing DEAD SILENCE (1989) before embarking on the infamous shot-on-video Gore Trilogy: GORGASM (1990), GOROTICA (1993) and GORE WHORE (1994). His next film, EXPLODING ANGEL (1995) starred Gunnar Hansen and Scott Shaw.
Gallagher collaborated with JESS FRANCO and LINA ROMAY; producing five of Franco’s his films in a two-year span--TENDER FLESH (1997), LUST FOR FRANKENSTEIN (1998), MARI-COOKIE AND THE KILLER TARANTULA (1998), VAMPIRE BLUES (1999) and DR. WONG'S VIRTUAL HELL (1999).
Gallagher was an essential figure in the mail-order distribution of obscure film/VHS/publications/comics in the early 1990’s; and will be bringing an assorted print and film inventory with him to DF5.

PAUL WOODARD aka POLI SCI CLONE - Guest/Musical Performer

Actor, musician and frequent JMM/Gallagher collaborator Paul Woodard will also be appearing at DF5 con and the DF5 afterparty (8/24), as well as TEENAGE TUPELO screening (8/23).
Woodard appears in JMM's DAMSELVIS, TEENAGE TUPELO, THE SORE LOSERS; as well as Gallagher's GOROTICA and GORE WHORE. As a musician (under the name POLI SCI CLONE), Woodard performed at the original world premiere of DAMSELVIS at the legendary Barrister's tavern in January 1994.
