Dea Matrona est un duo rock irlandais formé par Mollie McGinn et Orláith Forsythe, dont la rencontre remonte à un concours de chant en langue irlandaise avant une collaboration née dans les rues de Belfast. Portées par une démarche résolument DIY, les deux musiciennes construisent leur projet à travers le busking, les tournées et des sorties auto-produites.
Leur premier album For Your Sins (2024) leur permet de s’imposer sur la scène indépendante, avec notamment une première place au Independent Breakers Chart et un soutien notable de BBC Radio 1. Le groupe enchaîne ensuite les tournées, festivals et premières parties prestigieuses, affirmant progressivement son identité scénique.
Avec leur second album Hate That I Care, Dea Matrona explore des thématiques liées à l’identité, à l’empowerment féminin et au sentiment d’extériorité, à travers un rock énergique et assumé. Leur écriture, nourrie de classic rock et de pop intemporelle, mêle spontanéité et sens du refrain dans une approche directe et fédératrice.

Irish rock duo Dea Matrona first met as teenagers during an Irish language singing competition before forming a musical partnership busking on the streets of Belfast. Since then, vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe have built their career through a fiercely DIY approach, growing a loyal fanbase through relentless touring and self-funded releases.
Their 2024 debut album, For Your Sins, reached No.1 on the Independent Breakers Chart, earned BBC Radio 1 support, took them to Glastonbury, and landed them on tour with The Beaches. Following a summer on the road with Sting, the duo now return with their second album, Hate That I Care, exploring female empowerment, identity, and the experience of feeling like an outsider through bold, high-energy rock songs.
Blending the timeless hooks of Fleetwood Mac and The Cranberries with sharp, contemporary songwriting, Dea Matrona channel their experiences into anthemic, swaggering rock. Written largely together in the back of their tour van, their music balances nostalgia with fearless honesty, reflecting both their enduring friendship and their evolution as artists.
