All welcome to join us for a guest lecture on Kodály-Inspired choral education for adolescent singers, presented by Dr Jason Goopy.
The event will also include the launch of the Irish Choral Research Network.
Tea/coffee provided. Venue: room PG01, Purcell House, DCU All Hallows, Drumcondra.

About the presenter:
Dr Jason Goopy is a Senior Lecturer and the Coordinator of Secondary and Instrumental Music Education at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. He is an accomplished music educator, scholar, leader, and choral director. He lectures and coordinates secondary and instrumental music education for the School of Education and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
Jason’s research examines how music education positively transforms lives at the intersection of music, education, and psychology using arts-based and mixed-method approaches. He focuses on how music engagement and learning shape and support individual and community identities and wellbeing. His monograph, Teenage Boys, Musical Identities and Music Education: An Australian Narrative Inquiry, is published by Routledge. As a 2025 Fulbright Scholar hosted by Teachers College Columbia University, Jason is investigating how school and community music education in New York City enhances the wellbeing of young people who have experienced adversity.
Jason is deeply committed to supporting arts education and has substantial national leadership experience. He is the current President of the Australian Society for Music Education, Immediate Past President of Kodály Australia, a member of the National Advocates for Arts Education, and an Advisory Group Member for the Music Education: Right from the Start initiative.
