About this Event
We launched the DCHWS website (dchws.org) to include information about the East, West, and Virtual Symposiums, and the Webinar Series. Ongoing updates will be posted on the DCHWS website. If you have questions, please email [email protected].
Summary of Event
The applications of engineering and science associated with cleaning up hazardous waste sites continue to evolve rapidly. Our goal is to facilitate an interactive engagement between professionals from the government and the private sector related to relevant and topical issues affecting our field. We will make every effort to mirror all aspects of past symposiums in terms of format and spirit. As a SAME event, registration fees will be covered by private sector sponsorships and registration fees. The registration fee is being waived for government employees.

Call for abstracts and nominations for moderators for DCHWS opening soon. You can submit an abstract or nomination for a moderator by clicking on the buttons below.
Submissions are due by December 15, 2023. Please consider submitting early.
Based on the feedback received from past events, the presentations most highly regarded are those based on completed projects with focus on challenges and lessons learned. Also, the Steering Committee encourages Young Professionals to submit an abstract. STEM Scholarship
This year the Post will award STEM scholarships to deserving students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college STEM program that is positioned to help grow the next generation of professionals in the A/E/C industry. Nominations for the scholarship will be solicited from SAME members and local colleges and universities with extensive STEM programs in the SAME Philadelphia Post Area of Responsibility (AOR).
For SAME family members associated with the Philadelphia Post school location can be anywhere in the US. We hope to award several scholarships to deserving nominees. Scholarships will be awarded at DCHWS on Friday at the Philadelphia 201 Hotel located on 201 N. 17th St., Philadelphia, PA.
Nominees must be entering their junior or senior year and must have successfully completed at least one year of study in engineering, technology, math, or science. The criteria for selecting the scholarship recipients will be academic achievements including grade point average, leadership/citizenship, character, and financial need. The scholarship will be awarded from the pool of applicants received.

Registration
Attendee Fees
The registration fee is being waived for government employees. Registration fees are as follows:
- Private Sector (SAME Member) - $525
- Private Sector (Non-SAME member) - $600
- Military/Government - Free*
*Military/Government attendees need to be approved through their chain of command.
Sponsorships
Tangible sponsorship cost is $1,600 and includes a registration ticket. The tangible sponsorship opportunities are: Room Key, Mobile App, and WiFi/Internet.
Titanium Reception Sponsorship cost is $2,000 and also includes a registration ticket.
