DC Science Comedy

DC Science Comedy is a comedy show founded and hosted by journalist and stand-up comedian Kasha Patel. The show includes stand-up comedy, humorous storytelling, presentations, songs, and more. The goal of our shows is to entertain. We count it as a bonus if you may walk away learning a new science fact or two.

Kasha Patel is a stand-up comedian and journalist. She holds a chemistry and science journalism degree. She was named one of the “Best Undiscovered Comedians” in the U.S. by Thrillist magazine because of her unique voice that couples life as an Indian-American and her love for science. She gave a TEDx talk called “Sneaking Science into Stand-Up,” where she shares a series of surprising revelations pulled from her analysis of more than 500 of her stand-up jokes. She has been featured on NPR, BBC World, Travel Channel, The Science Channel, The Weather Channel, and hosted a miniseries on NASA TV.

About Improbable Comedy:
Founded in 2012 by social-worker-turned-comedy-producer , Improbable Comedy has hosted more than 150 shows in local venues around the DMV. The goal has been to transform the industry by giving the mic to hilarious comedians who have been underrepresented on stage. Since our first show at Vicino's restaurant, we have brought big laughs to theatres, bars, swanky clubs, and people's homes. We now have regular shows at Busboys & Poets and the Arts Barn as well as partnerships with the Montgomery Parks Department and at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre.
