shilpa gupta: for, in your tounge, i cannot fit | 26 sept 2021 - 13 mar 2022

shilpa gupta’s installation for, in your tongue, i cannot fit: 100 jailed poets will be the artist’s first solo exhibition in america in over a decade. following its debut at the edinburgh arts festival in 2018 and later shown as part of the 58th venice biennale in 2019, the multi-channel immersive sound installation will span over 3,000 sq. ft. and include 100 speakers embedded into microphones, suspended from the ceiling. the artwork is the outcome of a long-term research project into persecuted poets across time and geographies.

peter halley: CELL GRIDS | 26 sept 2021 - 13 mar 2022

CELL GRIDS, peter halley’s first exhibition in texas in more than fifteen years, presents a unique series of paintings made from 2015 to the present. CELL GRIDS showcases a surprising vein of halley’s work, paintings in which one element of his distinctive iconography – his intensely colored rectilinear “cells” – is isolated and arranged into syncopated grids, bringing his work into dialogue with the structural grid of classic modernism as represented in the work of piet mondrian, agnes martin, andy warhol and others.

ilya + emilia kabakov: paintings about paintings | 26 sept 2021 - 13 mar 2022

ilya + emilia kabakov’s exhibition paintings about paintings will resemble an outdated and rundown museum, incorporating never-before-seen paintings, interactive works and installation. the exhibition's main focus will be on the kabakovs’ recent artistic journey and production of twenty large-scale paintings created over the past seven years. this will mark their first exhibition in texas in over 20 years.

renata morales: inane and mundane evolutionary tales of fear love and horror | 26 sept 2021 - 25 sept 2022

renata morales has an interest in the layering of both the conscious and unconscious information we consume daily. her presentation at dallas contemporary will be part of a year-long project in which morales will create a multi-chapter, immersive narrative which will include an installation of over 700 drawings and ceramic works in varied sizes.
