DC Burner’s DCompression: the District’s First Official Burning Man Decompression
Whether you’ve just returned from the playa, unpacked from Constellation, or had to sit this year out, this is the time of year when the post-burn blues can creep in. Even the most seasoned burners feel that drop. The best medicine? Get back around your burner family!
Introducing DC Burner’s DCompression, the DC region’s first official Burning Man Decompression! A full-day celebration of art, community, and radical self-expression. From 3 PM to 3 AM at Berhta Warehouse in Washington, DC, we’re bringing together the DMV’s most creative minds for an unforgettable return to connection, revelry, and mayhem.
Expect a mix of music, art, and wonder:
· Daytime workshops, lectures, and all-ages activities.
· Flow and fire circles, art installations, and interactive spaces.
· A dance floor that comes alive at night with DJs, lights, and immersive visuals.
· Open mic and acoustic jam sessions.
· A full bar, games, and plenty of surprises.
It’s free before nightfall, and all ages are welcome. At night, we’ll say goodbye to our under 18+ and set the night on fire. Whether you’re a long-time burner or simply curious about the culture, this is your chance to experience that spark and see what makes our community unlike any other.
If you’d like to contribute your art, host a workshop, bring a mutant vehicle, or volunteer in any way to help bring the magic to life, we’d love to have you.
Come reconnect. Come reimagine. Come decompress.

What is Decompression?
Decompression is an event where folks who are “burners,” i.e. burning man event participants, are able to socialize, bring art, perform, collaborate, and share the vibrant energy with one another in a way that is more specific to the local community. This is especially because Burning Man and many of the Burning Man Regional events occur in places where participants come from far and wide. These more localized celebrations of the burner culture are able to help foster the community in a meaningful way that can be more year-round. This space is special because many of these art pieces, spaces, and performances have debuted in the Black Rock City desert and at other Regional events, and now get to be experienced and appreciated for their magic all over again “off-playa” as we join together right in the middle of DC!
Can I go to Decompression even if I have never been to another burn before?
Absolutely! Decompression is an incredible way to meet some cool burners, see some awe-inspiring art, and get engaged. You’ll meet folks and see a little of what the culture and community is all about. Hopefully you’ll come away from it feeling like you are now part of the burnersphere and ready for more!
Can anyone bring art?
I thought you’d never ask! Yes, absolutely we want everyone to feel welcomed to bring their art, music, spaces, and performances to share with the community in this collaborative space. To share with the organizers your interest in participation, here is the form again: https://forms.gle/h2iJFaU2dgyQBuQR6
Is this a protest?
No. This is specifically a participatory, no-spectators, celebration of arts and culture event that is non-political. We encourage everyone to bring, share, and contribute in all the ways...but please, let's leave the politics out of it!
