About this Event
Join us for a dynamic training designed for clinicians working with emerging adults. This presentation will show how core DBT strategies—like wise mind, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—can strengthen emotional regulation, boost client buy-in, and reduce impulsive behaviors.
You’ll walk away with practical tools to create a recovery-supportive peer culture and prepare clients for deeper engagement in 12-Step communities. Special focus will be placed on translating DBT concepts into accessible, values-driven recovery language—helping clients move seamlessly from clinical care into long-term recovery support.
Learning Objectives:
After attending this training, participants will be able to:
1. Use DBT-informed skills like distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and wise mind to support emotional stability and foster a peer culture aligned with recovery values.
2. Translate DBT concepts into accessible, strengths-based language that aligns with 12-Step principles and supports long-term community engagement.
3. Incorporate DBT-informed strategies into group facilitation and milieu interventions to reduce impulsivity, increase willingness, and build momentum for early 12-Step participation.
This program offers 2 NBCC hours.
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED FOLLOWING THE COURSE.
