Day of Zen

There is something powerful about setting aside an entire day for practice.
On Saturday, July 11, Michael Mugaku Zimmerman Roshi will lead a Day of Zen—an opportunity to step away from the noise and busyness of everyday life and return to the fundamentals of Zen: sitting upright, breathing deeply, and practicing together in community.
Mugaku Roshi’s teaching is rooted in decades of training and a lineage that bridges Soto, Rinzai, and Sanbo Zen traditions. His approach is both rigorous and deeply human, emphasizing the ordinary yet transformative work of showing up fully for this moment.
Whether you are completely new to meditation or have practiced for many years, a Day of Zen offers something difficult to find in modern life: sustained attention. Participants will receive guidance in posture, breath, zazen, chanting, and the spirit of practice itself, all within the support of a dedicated sangha.
Zen is often described as simple, but it is not easy. It asks us to stop running, to sit down, and to meet our lives directly. Days like this provide a rare opportunity to do exactly that under the guidance of an experienced teacher.
We hope you’ll join us.
