Day of the Dead Wood Burning Class

Students will guided in wood burning ideas to create their own unique Day of the Dead theme gourd. Since each gourd will be cleaned and dried already, it will last longer then your traditional pumpkins.
Student will be offer a choice different cutout faces. Each gourd will be cleaned out like a pumpkin would. The eyes, nose and a small opening for the mouth will be cut prior to the class. Students will design images around the openings and entire gourds.

There will be a opening in the bottom too. This will allow the placement of an LED light ONLY ( no candles or other light source because it may cause a fire). Never leave light source on unattend.

Instructor will give additional instruction if needed to add additional carving tips if students wish to add their gourd's look at home.

If time permit, there will paint pens, color pencils and / or alcohol inks provided to help add vibrant color to your gourd. It is suggested that students wear latex gloves and aprons during the use of alcohol inks and paint pens to avoid staining clothing.

Precut gourd

Wood burner

Day of Dead stencils and examples for inspiratio.
Alcohol inks, paint pens, and color pencils

Embellishments.
