Celebrating The Day of the Dead in Seattle.
What: Sea Giant Skulls Day of the Dead Art Exposition.
When: Opening day Sunday September 29, 2024 at 12PM.
The exposition is free and open to all public from 09/29/24 to 10/30/24.
Where: Westlake Park in Downton Seattle.
Artists: Mr. Hermes Arroyo. He is a craftsman based in the city of San Miguel de Allende in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
He is best known for his work in the making of giant papier-mâché and fabric “puppets” called “mojigangas” and they are a preservation as a cultural tradition of San Miguel de
Allende.
Arroyo's work has been commissioned and regularly exhibited in Mexico and around the world.
All six giant skulls were intervened by artists Mariana Arregui, Ariana Weibezahn, Jessica Shilling for the Seattle Catrinas Festival, the most spectacular celebration of the Day of the Dead in USA.
The program for this special event on Sunday September 29:
11 AM Starting setting up, along with DJ.
12 PM Catrina's face painting will begin.
1 PM Azteca dancers Nahui Ollin ceremony and their dance will begin.
2 PM Mexican Ballet "Baile Folklore Colibrí" will begin.
245 PM Día de los Muertos brief speech.
3 PM Ribbon cutting of the Sea Giant Skulls art exposition as part of the celebration of Día de los Muertos in Seattle, followed by an hour Mariachi Monarcas concert.
4 PM End of the event.
You are welcome to join us totally FREE for the opening of The Day of the Dead festivities on Sunday September 29 from 12PM to 4 PM in Westlake Park in Downtown Seattle, then Seattle Catrinas Festival will be running from October 31 to November 3 from 2 PM to 10 PM at Town Hall Seattle, located at 1119 8th. Ave. Seattle,WA. 98101.
