Day of the Dead Cultural Festival: Art Exhibition & Altar
About this Event
Day of the Dead Cultural Festival 2026
The Embassy of Mexico in the United Kingdom warmly invites you to join us in celebrating Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions, honouring the memory of those who have passed away and celebrating the enduring bonds between memory, culture and identity.
From 2 to 6 of November 2026, the Embassy’s Cultural Hub will host a special programme of events inspired by this meaningful tradition, bringing together art, literature, archaeology and the cultural heritage that continues to shape the way Day of the Dead is celebrated today.
At the heart of this year’s programme is a traditional Mexican altar created in collaboration with the Municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco. Designed to reflect the region’s distinctive traditions and ways of commemorating the dead, the altar will be dedicated to Juan Rulfo, one of Mexico’s most celebrated literary figures, whose roots lie in Zapopan.
The Cultural Hub will also present Entre memoria, color y encuentro (Between Memory, Colour and Encounter), a collective illustration exhibition, by Grupo de Autoayuda de Dibujo, that invites visitors to experience Day of the Dead through the senses, exploring how each one becomes a gateway to memory and tradition.
We invite you to join us in celebrating a tradition that honours the past, embraces the present and keeps the memory of our loved ones alive.
RSVP required for each activity.
