Day of Remembrance 2025

This event is hosted in collaboration with the Cambodian Association of Illinois.
Fifty years ago, the Cambodian genocide began, claiming an estimated 2 million lives and displacing countless families. Join us on April 17 for the Day of Remembrance as we honor the victims and survivors of the killing fields and uplift a half-century of community healing through cultural ceremonies, art, storytelling, and music.

Info: The program includes a Candlelighting Ceremony, Moment of Silence, and prayers by Buddhist monks for healing.

Info: Community members will share personal experiences and reflections, offering insight into their journeys and the resilience of the Cambodian community.

Info: Local musicians, led by resident artist Punisa Pov, will perform Cambodian songs to honor our heritage and culture.

Info: We close the program with gratitude, reflection, and a collective commitment to remembrance and healing.
