Andi’s cancer journey began in late 2025, when concerning symptoms led to testing that revealed a large mass on her cervix. An OB/GYN told Andi she was confident the mass was not cancer and believed it was a fibroid that would require a hysterectomy.
When Andi called to schedule the surgery, she was told the office was booked and the hysterectomy could not be performed until April — nearly four months away. At that point, her symptoms were already severe, and waiting that long simply wasn’t an option. Her mom reached out to a family member who is also a medical professional. After learning about Andi’s symptoms, test results and proposed treatment plan, she recommended that Andi share her previous medical records and seek another opinion.
While gathering those records, Andi discovered an abnormal Pap result from 2023 that she had never been notified about. A second opinion was arranged, followed by a biopsy and PET scan that ultimately confirmed the diagnosis in January 2026: Stage 3C1 cervical cancer with an approximately 8 cm tumor.
Her treatment has included chemotherapy, radiation, brachytherapy, infusions and a blood transfusion.
In August, multiple cervical biopsies showed no cancer detected in the tissue that was sampled — incredibly encouraging news, but not the same as being declared cancer-free.
Andi continues labs and immunotherapy treatments at the Armes Family Cancer Care Center every three weeks. In November, she will meet with her gynecologic oncology team to reassess and determine the next steps.
For those who don’t know Andi, you are truly missing out! She is fun, warm, genuinely caring, and has the kind of sense of humor that makes people want to be around her. Andi has a way of making others feel welcome, seen, and very quickly like part of the circle. A wife, stepmom, and fur mama, she loves those she holds close fiercely.
This experience has also given Andi an even stronger desire to raise awareness for gynecological cancers, from education and testing to knowing your body, asking questions, following up on your results, and learning how to advocate for yourself. Rather than focusing only on what this fight has asked of her, Andi has also looked ahead to how her experience might help someone else.
And perhaps she says the reason for that best herself:
“I hope that by sharing these additional parts of my story, people understand how important it is to pay attention to changes in your body, ask questions, follow up on your results, and advocate for yourself.”
As a community, we are coming together as Team Andi to stand beside her, and we hope you’ll join us.
And somehow, the timing of this day feels especially fitting. Andi’s Day of Giving will take place on Sunday, October 25, almost one year after those first symptoms began. It also kicks off a week that leads into Andi’s October 30 birthday and then Halloween, which just happens to be her favorite holiday. We couldn’t be happier to be part of this day and to help bring it all to life in a way that feels joyful, meaningful, and so very Andi.
We are also collecting donations from businesses, family, friends, and anyone in the community who would like to be part of the day. Donations can truly be anything, from a themed basket or package to a single great item, gift card, product or service, tickets or experiences, handmade goods, treats, or a monetary contribution toward our trick or treat grab bags and other activities. Big or small, every contribution helps us make the day even more fun, generous, and meaningful.
Andi’s Day of Giving at Big Mike’s will be going strong on Sunday, October 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with food available throughout the day and plenty happening along the way. Since it also falls on Tiffin’s trick or treat night, we’ll be joining in the Halloween fun as an official trick or treat stop, with live music, festive Halloween activities, fun for the kids, special guests, and a few magical surprises we can’t wait to share.
Join us anytime throughout the day. Proceeds from the day will support Andi throughout her continued treatment and journey, while also giving back to cancer related organizations and resources that provide education, support, and assistance to others facing cancer. Andi has already connected with organizations doing this important work, including FACT, which she hopes to support.
We hope the entire day feels like a celebration of community, generosity, and everything Andi loves about Halloween.
