Day of DeadFest 2026 - Dia de MuertosFest 2026
About this Event
Day of the DeadFest 2026 is a community celebration of Día de los Muertos presented by ALMA Boston in collaboration with the Zaira Meneses Arts Institute (ZAI). Rooted in Mexican tradition and open to people of all backgrounds, the festival brings together music, dance, visual art, food, education, and community participation to celebrate life and honor those who came before us.
At the center of the celebration is a community altar, created as a shared space where families and guests can contribute photographs, flowers, messages, and offerings in remembrance of loved ones.
The festival features live traditional and contemporary Latin American music, Son Jarocho, zapateado, participatory workshops, artists and artisans, Mexican food, and activities for children and families. Rather than simply presenting Día de los Muertos as a performance, the festival invites the public to participate in the traditions and understand their cultural meaning.
Through Day of DeadFest, ALMA Boston and ZAI create a bridge between tradition and contemporary artistic expression, artists and community, and Mexico and the diverse communities of Greater Boston.
The event also creates opportunities for Latin American musicians, teaching artists, artisans, small businesses, students, and volunteers to share their work and connect with new audiences.
Day of DeadFest is ultimately a celebration of memory, community, and life — keeping tradition alive by sharing it, experiencing it, and allowing a new generation to make it their own.
