Gage Hall 4 Archdale StreetFueled by rage against mask mandates and vaccines during the pandemic -- and in opposition to equity initiatives that followed George Floyd's murder -- the 2022 election saw white Christian Nationalists win seats on school boards across the country. In the Lowcountry, they have secured majorities on our school boards where they have already begun implementing their anti-truth agenda.
Project Blitz is a coordinated effort by white Christian Nationalists to inject religion into public education, attack reproductive healthcare, and undermine LGBTQ and racial equality using a distorted definition of "religious freedom." These white Christian Nationalists are a minority population in our country, but they are organized and working hard to grow their outsized influence on our politics and tear down the separation of church and state. We have to get organized and work even harder to stop them and preserve our democracy.
Join us on Sunday, March 19th for a Day of Action to organize resistance to the anti-science, white supremacist and bigoted white Christian Nationalists. Learn who is on our school boards, what initiatives they are pushing, and what we can do to oppose them.
For example, the Charleston County School Board is trying to amend policy to allow the Board to pray publicly in each meeting in violation of the Constitution. The SC legislature has filed yet another abortion ban, despite the SC Supreme Court's slapdown of their last attempt. They've filed education voucher bills that send our tax money to private religious schools, and there are FIVE bills that censor what SC students can learn and FOUR bills that attack transgender South Carolinians.
