About this Event

The Saturday Youth Day Pass provides teens ages 19 and under access to the following:

  • Saturday: Festival Opening Ceremony
  • Saturday: First Breath / Next Breath Multimedia Expo
  • Saturday: Team Slam Preliminaries (as an audience member)
  • Saturday: Coaches & Cookies Cypher

This pass does NOT authorize participation in the Team Slam, nor does it provide audience access to the Team Slam Finals. Teens must be a member of a previously-registered Slam Team to compete in the Team Slam (for details on Team Slam Registration, visit our Slam Information page). For audience access to the Team Slam Finals, all attendees (of all ages) must acquire a SEPARATE Team Slam Finals Pass.

All Festival attendees must first check in at the Bordy Theater in the Union Bank Building before attending any Festival events. Entry to all buildings and events requires a badge and you will not be allowed entrance without it. Tickets to the Team Slam Finals will be included with your badge.

The only exception to this requirement is if you are solely attending the Team Slam Finals and no other Festival event, in which case you may proceed directly to the Semel Theater in the Tufte Building.

First Breath / Next Breath Multimedia Expo

Info: This year we’re excited to launch an entirely new, hands on, multimedia art making expo! We’re inviting youth attendees to float between several art making stations designed to explore poetry and the ways they can incorporate other mediums of expression into their existing creative practice. Booths will span across genres and media including Dance, Graffiti Art, Fashion, Jewelry making, Music, Meditation, and more surprising mediums we can’t wait to share with the public! All stations will be run by leading teaching artists across New England. Our hope is to have our youth poets bond across teams through creating together, learning new skills and experimenting with expression. Most importantly we want our youth poets to know they can be more than one thing, and their voice as an artist is capable of blooming and making change across many mediums that speak to them!
