DAVID HILLYARD & THE ROCKSTEADY 7 sit at the crossroads of Jamaican rhythm and jazz tradition. Formed in New York City in 1992 by saxophonist David Hillyard, best known for his work with The Slackers, the group has been anchored since its early years by legendary percussionist Larry McDonald, with live performances featuring a rotating cast of musicians. This event features an all-star lineup of Larry Mcdonald (Taj Mahal/Skatalites), Jeff Roffredo (Aggrolites/Tiger Army), Vic Wong (Cottontails/Project Pimento), Jimmy Boom (Slackers/Phenomenauts), and more!
Three years in the making, The Rocksteady 7’s Home For Dinner arrived on February 20, 2026 like a long-awaited meal, warm, generous, and bursting with flavour. David Hillyard, the saxophonist who helped shape The Slackers’ sound, brings his beloved New York collective back with a record that sits boldly at the crossroads of Jamaican rhythm and jazz tradition.
