Minneapolis-based author David Hakensen will read from his new book, Her Place in the Woods: the Life of Helen Hoover. Described by publisher University of Minnesota press as "The biography of one of Minnesota’s most beloved nature writers, from her career in the city to her rustic cabin on Gunflint Lake," Her Place in the Woods "captures both an awakening to the power and fragility of the natural world and the efforts and talents of an extraordinary woman defining herself as a writer. He is a strategic communications consultant and served as president of the Minnesota Historical Society from 2017-2023. Hakensen is an accredited member and Fellow of the Public Relations Society of America. He has written for Minnesota History, Mpls. St. Paul, and Twin Cities Business magazines.
