About this Event
David Childers & the Serpents sit at the bedrock of North Carolina’s songwriter community, blending folk traditions with grit, wit, and lived-in storytelling. Recently inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, Childers is known for sharp songwriting and a live show that’s as funny and disarming as it is powerful. If you’ve never seen him perform, his shows are must-see singalongs—songs that get your foot tapping, your voice joining in, and your spirits high. Backed by the Serpents, each set feels intimate, road-tested, and unmistakably authentic.

Asheville-based singer-songwriter Joe Hooten, originally from Macon, Georgia, is the driving force behind Tin Roof Echo. Since his 2014 debut The Original Plan, Hooten has released seven albums blending introspective songwriting with a DIY spirit and wide-ranging influences. His latest, Flowers Falling, recorded with producer Kevin Boggs and mastered by John Keane (R.E.M., Indigo Girls), features contributions from members of Steep Canyon Rangers, Drive-By Truckers, and more, delivering heartfelt, folk/country-tinged melodies with undeniable charm.
Seen on festival stages and intimate venues alike—from Enofest and Finsterfest to the Grey Eagle and the Orange Peel—Hooten has shared bills with artists from Scott Miller, Freedy Johnston to Agent Orange, and Soul Asylum. He also co-organizes the Bandcamp benefit compilation Caverns of Gold and channels his punk energy into his band PINKEYE.
