About this Event
Blackstar — A Listening & Screening Party (10 Years On)
Thursday 8 January · Doors 7pm
Temple of Art & Music, Mercato Metropolitano, London
This is not a tribute. It’s time and space to listen — and to watch.
Ten years after its release, David Bowie’s Blackstar continues to resist easy meaning.
Often described as an ending, the album now feels more like a space — one that rewards attention, allows ambiguity, and changes depending on who’s listening. This evening is an invitation to experience Blackstar in full, accompanied by its visual language, and shared with others in the room.
You don’t need to be a Bowie fan.
You don’t need context or prior knowledge.
Just a willingness to be present.
The Listening & Screening
- Full, uninterrupted playback of Blackstar
- Official music videos screened where available
- For tracks without official videos, Temple of Art & Music visuals will be shown
- All visuals presented on the Temple of Art & Music cinema-size screen
- The album will be played on the Temple of Art & Music’s high-quality sound system, designed for focused listening rather than background volume
- Low lighting, calm atmosphere
The bar will be open throughout the evening. Guests are welcome to order drinks at any time — we simply invite gentle movement once the album begins, so the experience can remain shared.
The Drinks (Optional, Thoughtful)
Two drinks have been created especially for the night, designed as quiet companions to the music rather than centrepieces.
Starman
Light, floral, and dry.
A gentle signal — an invitation to look up.
The Blackstar
Dark, bittersweet, and still.
A moment of pause — where the listening begins.
Both drinks are available in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions.
Why This Matters Now
Blackstar doesn’t explain itself.
It doesn’t resolve.
It doesn’t comfort.
Ten years on, that feels current.
In a culture of constant noise and acceleration, this is a rare chance to slow down — to listen, to watch, and to sit with an album that still refuses to close itself off.
This isn’t about decoding meaning.
It’s about attention.
Who This Is For
- People who care about music as experience, not background
- Anyone interested in listening, visuals, and shared attention
- Bowie fans — and people who aren’t
- Anyone curious about how art can remain alive over time
