Two Baltimore authors, two Baltimore tales!
About this Event

We're celebrating the launch of David Bolton's WHISPERING PINES and William Loving's FELLS POINT, both of which are deeply rooted in Baltimore and its surrounding areas.

Set in the postwar suburbs of Baltimore, the brick apartments in WHISPERING PINES teem with stories--of longing, loss, desire, and resilience. Told through a mosaic of interconnected tales, this richly atmospheric collection is both a love letter to mid-century Baltimore and a timeless meditation on the human condition.

By turns darkly funny and melancholic, FELLS POINT captures a soul--and a city--at a crossroads. What begins as a personal journey of late-life reckoning becomes a noir-tinged meditation on memory, mortality, and the search for purpose.

We look forward to bringing these two exciting new books together in a conversation centered around our city.

From Tokyo to Washington, DC, David Bolton has worked across fields ranging from advertising to teaching professional writing at the University of Maryland. As the author of two poetry books, his pre-Columbian fable, Love Thief, the Legend of Ixmal the Healer, was cited by Kirkus Reviews as one of the “Best Books of 2019“

William Loving is the author of three novels, including City of Angles, Blue Earth River, and his latest, Fells Point. Before turning to fiction, he worked as a journalist at the Los Angeles Times and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. His fiction reflects a journalist's sharp eye for character and place, blending wit, suspense, and a deep connection to the cities that have shaped him. Raised in Baltimore, he attended Loyola-Blakefield High School and the University of Maryland. He now lives in Pasadena, California, with his wife Rhonda Hillbery.
