Dave Gunning

With more than two decades on the road, 15 albums, and a remarkable collection of awards to his name, Nova Scotia’s Dave Gunning has earned his place among Canada’s most respected and beloved folk singer-songwriters. A gifted storyteller with a quick wit, a warm stage presence, and a knack for finding the extraordinary in everyday life, Gunning has a gift for turning everyday experiences into compelling songs filled with heart, humor, and humanity.
One minute he’ll have you laughing at a perfectly delivered story, and the next he’ll bring the room to complete silence with a song that gets right to the heart of something we all recognize. His music is deeply rooted in the working communities of Nova Scotia, but the stories he tells about family, resilience, injustice, kindness and belonging are universal.
His latest album, "Field Notes", recorded in Australia in 2025, strips things back to what he does best: honest songwriting, thoughtful observations and stories, wonderful stories! If you love songs that celebrate everyday heroes and hard truths, delivered by someone who knows how to make an audience feel like old friends, spend an evening with Dave Gunning.
You'll leave with a few good laughs, some beautiful songs to remember and probably a story or two you'll want to tell someone else.
